Firefox Lite for Android with Turbo Mode Launched in India
Back in August 2018, Mozilla rebranded the Firefox Rocket lightweight browser as Firefox Lite. It was then exclusively available only in Indonesia. Today, the company has launched the Firefox Lite browser in India. As of now, the Firefox Lite browser is available across 15 markets in Asia. As the name suggests, the browser comes in less than 4MB size and can be installed on any Android smartphone running Android 5.0 Lollipop or later.
Apart from Chrome for Android, The Indian market is filled with several China-based browsers like UC browser. While we can’t trust the Chinese apps over privacy, Mozilla has focused on privacy while designing the Firefox Lite. According to the company, the Firefox Lite browser has already crossed two million downloads. It is mentioned to have saved more than 8,000 hours of app launch time and over 33,000 hours of page load time.
In India, the Firefox Lite also comes with the Turbo mode for blocking third-party content like ads. It also got an always-on tracking protection option to prevent the websites from tracking the users. Apart from all these advanced options, it also got basic features like multi-tabs support, night mode, and offline reading. It also supports downloading multi files at once. The option to clear cache can be found in the browser’s menu to free up the device storage.
