Facebook family apps including Instagram & WhatsApp down for some users
There has been a significant outrage by people on the internet today mainly because primary social media services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have been partially down across major parts of the world for up to 8 hours, according to the users.
The reason for the services that are being down is yet to be known. Many users were reporting that opening the apps seemed to be working fine, but some were complaining about issues randomly. For instance, some users couldn’t load or add an Instagram Story or to a Post while others were able to load the stories but were unable to view the posts in the feed. Similarly, on Facebook, users couldn’t load the messenger application on either or mobile or the web for that matter. And also, Facebook advertisement section for some and Facebook feed and stories weren’t working fine some users as they reported.

Since these apps belonged to Facebook, another Facebook-owned WhatsApp have had also faced break down for users in countries like Brazil and India. Users were reporting troubles of sending text messages via the messaging platform. While most of the popular social media apps were down, users who were suffering this breakdown took to Twitter to raise the issue by using appropriate hashtags such as #facebookdown and #instagramdown. Amidst the outrage on Twitter, the affected companies – Facebook and Instagram took Twitter to address the issue and have released statements acknowledging the outage and confirmed they were working on it as soon as possible and had also confirmed that this breakdown issue is not related to a DDoS attack.
We're focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.
