Sony Launches Xperia 10 and 10 Plus Mid-range smartphones with 21:9 Displays
Sony’s new Xperia mid-range line up of smartphones goes official at MWC, this year. The company had launched its new Xperia 10 and 10 Plus smartphones, earlier named XA3 and XA 3 Plus, however, Sony had discontinued the XA branding with these new 10 and 10 Plus product names. Along with its new flagship Xperia 1 smartphone, the company had launched these two mid-range devices.
Sony Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus
Both the 10 and 10 Plus devices come with Sony’s new 21:9 Full HD+ resolution displays. The Xperia 10 features a 6-inch display and the 10 Plus comes with 6.5-inch displays. Both the devices share identical design elements with a plastic build on the rear and the displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and also they run on Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pe operating system.
The Xperia 10 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 SoC followed by 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. And, the big brother Xperia 10 Plus hosts a Snapdragon 636 SoC, which is slightly better than the SD 630 chipset. The larger 10 Plus device comes with larger storage, meaning it features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
In terms of optics, both the Xperia devices feature dual cameras on the rear. While the Xperia 10 comes with 13MP+5MP dual cameras, the 10 Plus device features 12MP+8MP camera sensors. Both these cameras are capable of capturing 21:9 images and video shots and also include Bokeh effects, video streaming, slow-mo recording at 120fps and Hybrid autofocus and more. And, on the front, both the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus share same 8MP camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 and are capable of capturing portrait selfie shots along with selfie effects.
On the connectivity front, despite being the mid-range smartphones from Sony, the company had managed put in USB Type-C for charging and other connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Google Cast and so on.
Lastly, the Xperia 10 is kept alive by a 2870mAh battery and the larger 10 Plus pack in a 3000mAh battery. Both the phones support Xperia Adaptive Charging as well. Additionally these Xperia 10 and 10 Plus also feature High-Resolution Audio with DSEE HX and LDAC for better audio possibilities. As seen on the earlier Xperia devices, these 10 and 10 Plus also come with a fingerprint scanner on the lock button for authentication.
Sony Xperia L3
Apart from the flagship and mid-range smartphones, Sony had also another smartphone for its Xperia product portfolio by launching – the Xperia L3 smartphone. It appears to be a below mid-range smartphone featuring a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 display. Unlike the other Xperia devices launched, the Xperia L3 is powered by MediaTek MT6762 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with micro SD expansion support (up to 512GB). The Xperia L3 features dual cameras (13MP+2MP) on the rear and an 8MP camera sensor on the front. It ships with Android Oreo out-of-the-box and lastly the device is fueled by a 3300mAh battery and also supports fast charging.
