Samsung Launches Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus with Triple Cameras & Infinity O Displays

Samsung has finally unveiled its new Galaxy S10 flagship phones of this year. The Korean tech giant has introduced not two but three Galaxy S10 smartphones — the Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and the low-cost Galaxy S10E. Unlike the earlier released predecessors – the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 smartphones, which looked identical in terms of design, this time Samsung had made a radical design overhaul with the trio of Galaxy S10 devices by introducing its new Infinity O displays, which the company had showcased at their developer conference held last year. The trio of these Galaxy S10 smartphones maintain an efficient design and the phones look certainly tall with a noticeable reduction in the chin on the front of the display, and certainly no top bezel — thanks to the new Infinity O displays.

Let us get to the flagship variants first — the Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus, which look relatively identical in terms of design and build, however, the cameras and the display sizes vary. Both the devices feature Samsun’s new Dynamic AMOLED (successor to company’s Super AMOLED) Quad HD+ Infinity O displays developed by Samsung with screen sizes of 6.3-inch and 6.1-inch respectively. These displays are further covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

The exciting part of these beautiful displays on the devices is that for the first time Samsung has implemented in–display fingerprint scanner and had removed the conventional fingerprint on the rear. The Ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor, which the company calls it is said to be an advanced fingerprint scanner with 3D scanning functionality. It utilizes more screen real estate than what we have been already used to with the current in-display technologies. Furthermore, the new ultra-sonic fingerprint is said to be more secure as well. Additionally, the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus also feature face recognition authentication as well.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ devices are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 7nm chipset and also with the Samsung’s new Exynos 9 series-based Exynos 9820 8nm chipset. Needless to say, these variants vary depending on your region. Similarly, these processors are paired with Qualcomm Adreno 640 GPU and Mali-G76 MP12 GPU as well. The S10 and S10 Plus come equipped with standard 8GB of RAM followed by 128 and 512GB of onboard storage respectively. Besides the larger S10 Plus also comes with a 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, which is the first phone to have such a massive amount of storage from Samsung.

As for the optics, Samsung has managed to implement triple rear cameras for the S10 and S10 Plus, which isn’t new for the company since it had already launched its quad camera smartphones earlier last year with Galaxy A8s. The triple rear cameras on the S10 devices include — a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, which has OIS support, a 12MP wide angle sensor with an aperture of f/1.5 that supports dual aperture and dual pixel OIS and lastly a 16MP ultra-wide 123-degree camera which has an aperture of f/2.2.

On the front, the Galaxy S10 Plus features dual selfie cameras sitting under the Infinity O display wherein there’s a 10MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture and an 8MP sensor for live focus that has an aperture f/2.2. The Galaxy S10, however, features a single 10MP selfie shooter on its Infinity O display. These selfie cameras are also capable of 4K video recording, which is the industry’s first phone to be having this feature. Additionally, these cameras on both the devices come with a bunch of features such as AR Emoji, Stickers, Live focus and several other modes as well.

Both the flagship Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus devices ship with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box with Samsung’s latest One UI running on top of it. The Galaxy S10 Plus is kept alive by a massive 4100mAh battery, and the S10 has a decent 3400mAh battery. Both the phones support USB Type -C and support fast charge as well as quick wireless charge. These devices are also capable of sharing power through Wireless power share, which is too fast charge 2.0 capable. The Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus devices come with IP68 water and dust resistant capabilities, and lastly, Samsung has also managed to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack as well  and the device also comes with Dolby ATMOS sound mode that can be toggled on/off in the settings.

Both the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus smartphones feature in three color variants that include — Prism White, Prism Green and Prism Black and the larger 12GB/1TB S10 Plus also features in Luxurious Ceramic Black and Ceramic Color variants as well. As for the pricing, it starts at $899 for Galaxy S10, $999 for Galaxy S10+ and $749 for Galaxy S10e.
