LG G8 ThinQ Announced with 3D Face Unlock And Snapdragon 855 SoC

After all the leaks, LG has launched its flagship smartphone – LG G8 ThinQ at MWC. The device comes with the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC as expected and a new Hand ID feature that identifies the user by recognizing the shape, thickness and also individual characteristics of the veins in the palm of the hand to unlock the device. The company has not mentioned the pricing of the device yet, but it will be rolled out from March in Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, and Moroccan Blue color options.

The LG G8 ThinQ comes with 6.1-inch (3120 x 1440 pixels) FullVision OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. As mentioned, it will be powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and Adreno 640 GPU. The onboard memory of the device is limited to 128GB (UFS 2.1) which can be extended up to a maximum of 2TB via microSD card slot. Being a flagship smartphone, it will come out of the box with the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system and will also be getting further updates when available.

Coming to the camera department, the device houses a 12MO main camera sensor with f/1.5 aperture size, a 16MP super wide camera with f/1.9 aperture size and a 12MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture size on the rear with LED flash. In the front side, we can find an 8MP selfie camera with f/1.7 aperture size and 3d ToF sensor. To power the handset there is a 3,500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging.

The LG G8 ThinQ comes with Boombox Speaker which is capable of stereo outwit with the new Crystal Sound OLED technology which uses the OLED display of the phone as an amplifier. It also comes with face unlocking as well as a fingerprint sensor on the rear to enhance the security levels. There is also a dual camera version of the device which is limited for certain regions and it will be known soon.
