Google Pixel Devices Starts Receiving February Security Patch Update

Google has started pushing its latest Android security update for its pixel smartphones along with Pixel C tablet. The new February security patch for the Pixel device can be downloaded from the Google website or it will be received via an OTA. The update will be received by the Google Pixel 2XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel XL, and Pixel C, while the changelog is mentioned below.

The tech giant has resolved 15 critical issues faced by the Pixel users with this new update but there isn’t any functional update along with this, unlike the previous builds. The size of the update is 135.7 MB in size on the Pixel devices which can be downloaded and installed from the settings of the device. Since the size of the update is big, to save the data charges, users are suggested to download it via Wi-Fi connectivity and then install it.

Make sure that the handset has a minimum charge of 60 percent before the installation begins and also back up all the important data. On the blog post of Google Security Bulletin, Google has mentioned that the most severe of the issues is a critical security vulnerability in Framework that could allow a remote attacker using a specially crafted PNG file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process.

It is also mentioned that they have not received any reports of active users exploitation or abuse of the issues. The update will be rolled out to all the Pixel devices but it might take some time to hit your device depending on your location. Have you received the update?
