Amazon's 'all-new' Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Kids Edition look identical to their predecessors

After refreshing its kid-friendly 10-inch HD tablet a couple of months back, Amazon is today taking the wraps off two “all-new” 8-inchers with hands-free Alexa support. The 2018 Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Kids Edition variants are not very different from their forerunners, packing the same quad-core 1.3 GHz processors and 1.5GB RAM.

One of the most obvious upgrades is a 2MP front-facing camera that replaces the rather terrible VGA secondary shooter on the previous generation. You still get a 2MP “primary” cam on the back of the two all-new Fire HD 8 models, as well as “vibrant” 1280 x 800 ...
